Winterfest returns with a flurry of events and new interactive light installation!
The City of Cambridge is excited to announce the lineup of its popular annual event, Winterfest, including the addition of e/motion, a new interactive light installation.
A flurry of Winterfest favourites also return this year to entertain and delight festival goers of all ages.
Winter Ice and Lights
5pm – 11pm November 15th, 2024 – January 1st, 2025
Central Park, 615 King Street East
Take a walk through the beautiful light displays and enjoy the self-guided experience with friends, family, or on your own time! Some installations can be viewed by driving past, while others are best enjoyed by being on foot and walking up to them. We welcome you to take photos and share your experience by using #cbridgewinterfest.

Created by Olivier Landreville, e/motion is a revisited version of our childhood see-saw that invites you to dive into the joys and sensations of surging water. As you ride this infinite wave, the glowing liquid acts like a living entity that responds to your ups and downs. From the integrated lit waves and water drops handlebars, to the soundscape redolent of the sea, users and bystanders are invited to explore e/motion’s magical ocean ambience from every angle. Is the base a whale’s tail or two water droplets? Let your imagination answer.
Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night

This modern twist on caroling is held in more than 26 cities around the world, and Cambridge is proud to have the largest attendance of all host cities! All ages will enjoy walking through downtown Cambridge with thousands of participants as you enjoy interactive light installations and live LED performers who will be along the route.
CPKC Holiday Train
3pm – 5pm November 24th, 2024
Malcolm Street Train Station, 20 Malcolm Street
Entertainment featuring Jessie T! The City of Cambridge has partnered with the Cambridge Food Bank who will be onsite collecting donations; although admission is free, donations are appreciated. 2024 marks the 20th anniversary the CPKC Holiday Train has stopped in Cambridge. Since its inaugural journey in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised more than $24.3 million and collected approximately 5.3 million pounds of food for community food banks in Canada and the U.S.
Music and Lights in the Village
6pm – 8:30pm December 6th, 2024
Cambridge Public Library Hespeler (5 Tannery Street East), Hespeler Town Hall (11 Tannery Street East), and St Andrew’s Hespeler Presbyterian Church (73 Queen Street East)
Gather to see holiday lights, food, performances by local choirs & bands, crafts, and a tree lighting ceremony at 7:15pm. Keepsake Winterfest Music and Lights in the Village ornaments available while supplies last!
Cambridge Christmas Market
8am – 4pm December 14th, 2024 and 10am – 4pm December 15th, 2024
Cambridge City Hall (50 Dickson Street) and Cambridge Centre for the Arts (60 Dickson Street)
This award winning Christmas market has grown exponentially since its inception in 2012 and will be larger than ever in 2024. This year over 100 local artisans, crafters, and makers will be on site selling their products. Shoppers will enjoy free live entertainment, a fire pit lounge, and food trucks. The Cambridge Christmas Market is a favourite shopping destination for unique gifts, seasonal food, and a great shopping atmosphere.
New Year’s Eve Party
3pm – 7pm December 31st, 2024
Hespeler Arena, 640 Ellis Road
Come ring in the New Year with an evening packed with free activities for all ages on and off the ice. Festivities will include ice skating, a Turbo Max inflatable obstacle course, live entertainment with Team T & J, games, and more. The concession stand will be open with snacks for sale.
