Candlelight Vigil in Memory of Charlie Hesselink
Date: Wednesday, May 13
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Franchetto Park, Guelph
You are invited to join us for a candlelight vigil to honour Charlie Hesselink, who was tragically killed in 2022 in an act of femicide.
We will gather at Charlie’s memorial tree along the pathway in Franchetto Park for brief remarks, a moment of solidarity, and a period of silence to commemorate Charlie’s life.
This event offers an opportunity for community members to come together to mourn the loss of a child to violence and to reflect on the importance of taking action against violence in our community whether or not you knew Charlie personally.
Event Details:
- Masks are required and will be provided
- This is an outdoor event please dress for the weather
- The vigil will be livestreamed on the G-W Women in Crisis Facebook page for those unable to attend in person
If you’re unable to attend but would like to support survivors, you can visit www.gwwomenincrisis.org to make a donation in Charlie’s name to help kids rebuild their lives after violence. Proceeds will support children staying at their intimate partner violence shelter, Marianne’s Place.
We kindly ask that attendees respect the wishes of Charlie’s mother and refrain from attending if they were present at Charlie’s father’s funeral.
