The Guelph Enabling Garden (GEG) will host a full day of free, all-ages programming on Saturday, September 19, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., combining a National Forest Week storytelling event with the return of the community favourite Enchanted Fairyland Art and Nature Festival.
Listen to the Trees Family Storytelling (10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)
Singalong at 10:00 a.m., followed by “Listen to the Trees,” a storytelling event presented by Guelph Urban Forest Friends and the Guelph Guild of Storytellers as part of National Forest Week. Featuring Jan Sherman, the event explores how to listen to trees through the lens of Indigenous stories and songs. Families are welcome to bring a blanket for children and a chair for adults. The Children’s Reading Room will be on-site with books to enjoy.
Enchanted Fairyland Art and Nature Festival (11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)
Immediately following the storytelling, the garden transforms for Enchanted Fairyland, a self-guided celebration of art and nature for everyone. Visitors can:
-explore the garden on a self-guided scavenger hunt, meet knowledgeable caretakers, and learn the fairies’ nature secrets
-create a take-home treasure in the guided crafting space.
-dress up as a fairy, gnome, insect, or other garden creature for the costume parade at 12:30 p.m.
-enter the fairy house contest and vote for your favourite
-browse a nature-themed art show and sale
-shop native plants at the plant sale
The festival is presented in partnership with Pollination Guelph, CMHA Spark of Brilliance, The Art of Soil Collective, and other community organizations, each bringing their own expertise to the garden for the day.
