GHS Online 50/50 Draw!

The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is excited to announce the launch of its first ever online 50/50 lottery. Today through April 15th 50/50 tickets can be purchased
at http://www.GHSLotto.ca for a chance at winning 50 percent of the jackpot – with a
guaranteed minimum prize of $5,000.
“We’ve never done this type of lottery before,” says Adrienne McBride, Executive
Director of GHS. “With COVID-19 restrictions in place for a full year now, our
avenues for raising money have been limited. We can’t host in-person events. With
the 50/50 lottery, everything is done virtually. Our community can take a chance on
the 50/50 draw – while giving animals in our care a second chance at finding their
Happy Tail.”
Additionally, all tickets purchased between March 15th through April 4th will be entered into the early bird draw on
April 5th for a $500 cash prize, sponsored by Royal City Tree Care.
“Royal City Tree Care is a company that cares about our community,” says Karen Harris,
an I.S.A. Certified Arborist who owns the business with her husband, Jonathan. “We are
so excited to partner with the Guelph Humane Society. The work that they do is so very
important to supporting vulnerable animals.”
The grand prize will be drawn on April 16th, and the winning ticket will take home 50
percent of the jackpot. The remaining proceeds will go towards GHS’s new facility at
190 Hanlon Creek Blvd.
“We are still short of our original $10 million fundraising goal for the new building,” adds McBride. “We are about
$1.1 million short, and we are hoping that this 50/50 draw will help us to continue to close the gap. What people
may not realize is that if we don’t raise the full $10 million, we may have to take on a mortgage, which could impact
our ability to expand our programs and services in Guelph and Wellington County.”
Tickets for the 50/50 draw can be purchased at different price points: 10 tickets for $10, 40 tickets for $20 and 120
tickets for $40. Tickets can be purchased up until 11:59pm EDT on April 15th
.
