POLL: Should kids get homework on vacation?

OK. So I know we just finished March Break, and the kids are JUST back to school, but we are heading out on vacation THIS Friday and will be gone for a week.

Yes, I know what you are asking: “why didn’t you go away on March Break?” Well, there are a couple of reasons that it worked out to go away at the end of March instead of just during the designated school break. Which brings us to the point of this little diatribe.

My wife spoke to our son’s teacher and he said that he will be compiling some math homework for our son (who’s 11) to work on WHILE WE ARE AWAY. Now, if you listen to the #MagicDrive even semi-regularly, you know that I have often talked about how much we struggle doing math homework with our son at the best of times… let alone while we are away on a sunshine vacation! I can’t imagine how INFINITELY more difficult it will be to get him to focus on doing math when there are a MILLION other things he (and, frankly, WE) would rather be doing!

I care about our son’s education, but I don’t think schoolwork should be assigned on a family vacation, am I alone in this? Do you agree? Have your say in this #MagicDrive Monday Poll:
