Well, plan to join me on the Home Run on the second Monday of every month for “Crime Stoppers Monday”. Sarah Bowers-Peter is the Program Coordinator for Crime Stoppers Guelph-Wellington, and besides that she’s a pretty great person, and I love having her join me on the mic each month!

JUNE 2019

This month, Cst. Hugh Currie from the Guelph Police Service joined us to talk about cyber crime and a new joint initiative with the GPS and Crime Stoppers, called EPACT. EPACT stands for “Educate Parents and Children Together”.  During the school year, they hold sessions where they separate parents and kids and allow for a frank and open discussion about online safety, the risks of social media exposure and the things that both parents AND kids should be aware of in this ever-changing digital landscape. Also, each Tuesday, on the Crime Stoppers Facebook page they host a LIVE chat, allowing people to submit their questions (in advance) and have those questions answered. I had a chance to chat with Cst. Currie and Sarah about EPACT and also about some recent awards that were won by Crime Stoppers of Guelph-Wellington! have a listen:

In July Crimestoppers Guelph-Wellington unveiled this exciting new billboard at the downtown Guelph transit terminal at Platform 21. When Sarah joined me in studio we talked about why this new ad is such a big part of getting the word out about Crimestoppers. We also talked about the importance of safeguarding your privacy when it comes to vacations in the summer, and a new location for their shredding fundraiser planned for September!

We also decided to have some fun with the new billboard with a bit of a challenge to YOU!

So get down to Platform 21 and take those pics and post them to Facebook, Instagram & Twitter using the hashtag #CSGW for your chance to win! Winners will be announced on our next Crime Stoppers Monday, August 12th!
